It’s been wonderful delving into a new prompt every day for the May Hungry for Change Blogger Challenge. So Actively Arielle: A Voice with a Commitment has teamed up with HFC to give you a brand new blogger challenge for the month of June.
If you’re a little drained from the previous challenge, don’t worry! This one is all freestyle based and very creative. You can work at your own pace and share what feels comfortable and authentic. This is “Arielle’s Word of the Day”Challenge, for which there will be just one word every day as a prompt for the month of June. All participating bloggers write a post based on it. The potential for very different and unique posts is there and everyone can
make it their own as it won’t be structured. Its freestyle and a community feel since we’ll all be doing the same word each day.
For example, for Day One the word is CHANGE and we all write a post with that as the overhead. We all have something incredibly special. Day Two the word is INVISIBLE and I know we all have a totally different take! It’s easy to participate as your post might be a poem, a quote, a long story, even a picture.
We're all different and our creativity can take off and shine!

DetailsGiven that this is a partnership with Hungry for Change, it seems fitting to begin with this word. Make it your own. You can talk about your own transformation. You can write about what you still hope to change; you can write about the world and what needs to be done; you can explain how difficult change was for you at points in your life. Have you felt this way? Do you feel this way? Is this ridiculous because you feel SO the opposite of invisible? Are you afraid to be seen? Are you afraid to BE invisible? Does this word remind you of being a kid? What does this word mean for YOU? Is power good? Bad? Scary? A foreign concept? Does your eating disorder have more power or do you? Is this about your eating disorder at all? Images can demonstrate power in a great way too without words! Do you like this word? Hate it? Do you use it? Do you use it to describe YOU? Does a particular person come to mind when you see this word? Write about them if you wish. Or do you feel this is an important quality? Maybe it’s something you’re trying to achieve. What do you envision when you see this word? Do you embody it? Does someone you know? Do you like the term warrior? Hate it? Go! Tell a story, sort your thoughts, do what feels right when you think of this word. Talk about honesty in regards to yourself or to a person from your past or present. Maybe a quote seems more fitting today. Be honest with it. ;) What does this word signify for you? Does it trigger a memory? A diagnosis? Are you logical? Do you wish you could be? Do you respect people who are or find them lacking? Does logic have a place in recovery? These are all examples of things you can write about. Are you emotional? Do you wish you could be? Do you respect people who are emotional or consider them unstable? Does emotion have a place in recovery? Let your mind take off! Does this word have negative connotations for you? Or does it seem powerful in a good way? Do you consider yourself a force? Is your eating disorder a force? Was it? There is no end to the ways in which this word can be interpreted. Do you like crowds? Hate them? Do you feel happy in a crowd or alone? Does a crowd cause anxiety? Why do you think this is? Let your mind open when you see this word and go from there. Does this word have positive feelings attached to it or negative ones? Do you feel the same way about this word as you used to? What does perfect mean to you? To other people? Does “perfect” even exist? Maybe there is a poem that expresses this best for you, maybe a quote, an image, etc. You knew this would be on here. But don’t think of it as a clichéd prompt. Write about what love means for you, or something that embodies love, how you want to be more loving, or what it’s like to love yourself. It’s up to you. Do you know how to live in the now? Is this something you are trying to learn? Is now scary? Freeing? Is now a hard concept for you? Everyone has a beginning. You can write about yours or share the beginning of recovery or the beginning of your family, your faith, your work, etc. Maybe there’s something you’re beginning right now. “Beginning” means different things to different people. Can you remember the end of an era in your life that was important to you? Was the end sad? Liberating? What is it like to end your disorder? What is it like to realize that for every end there is a new beginning? Do you have a photo that embodies laughter you can share? Maybe it’s of you, your kids, or a drawing. Maybe you have forgotten how to laugh. Maybe laughter is what gets you through the hard times. Share your laughter with us. Tears can be healthy. Tears can be reminders of things past. Tears can be freeing. Beautiful. Tears can be a release. What do tears mean for you? Do you cry a lot? Not at all? What is it that makes you cry? Consider what feels right for you for this prompt. A compliment can be a difficult thing. Sometimes it’s foreign. Sometimes it’s a masked insult. Sometimes we don’t know how to compliment ourselves. What power does a compliment hold for you? What role have compliments played in your life? You can talk about the fight through recovery, for your life. You can talk about a fight you’ve had with someone. With yourself. You can talk about fear of fighting with others, the inclination to be reserved and avoid confrontation. The word “fight” can hold so many different meanings depending on how you look at it. What is home? A place? A person? Have you ever felt at home? Have you worked hard to create your own home? Is it a place inside you or a place you’ve built around you and your family? Get to the deeper meaning. Post a picture of your “home” if that’s easier to describe your feelings. We all have a soul. Sometimes it can be hard to reach. Sometimes our soul is what keeps us grounded. Sometimes it’s what keeps us afraid. Sometimes we can’t find it. Talk about your soul. Just as we all have soul, we all have a face. What do you see when you look into your own eyes? Or maybe the word “face” conjures up a visual of another who has been kind to you, or mean to you. Let your mind go free and let the word “face” tell you what to share today. Maybe you need to forgive yourself. Maybe you are struggling to forgive another. Maybe forgiveness feels forced. Maybe you don’t understand it. Maybe it is religious or faith based when you consider. Maybe it’s a lesson you have not yet learned. Talk about it in your own words. Do you know your purpose? What does purpose mean in your eyes? Do you admire the purpose of certain others? Joy. Happiness. Bliss is real. Talk about a time you felt bliss. Or describe the experience in an emotional sense. Maybe you have a poem that explains it well for you. Maybe you struggle with what bliss feels like. Whatever it is, tell us. This can refer to an actual trip (or many trips) to other countries. Maybe to other cities. Maybe it’s a figurative journey you’ve taken in your life at some point. Maybe it’s the journey of motherhood or a career traveling. Maybe you have dreams to travel that are driving you to your goals. Does life hold mystery for you? Do you wish it did? Does mystery scare you? Thrill you? Is it good, bad, or do you feel indifferent towards it? To end, I chose the word “community” because that’s what these blogger challenges are about. What does community mean to you? How does it fit into your life? Into your health? Into your recovery? Or how does it relate to blogging? Or family? Share with us what it means for you. |
