Hungry for Change are delighted to partnership with Actively Arielle in a blog challenge that is sure to encourage, inspire and educate in so many diverse ways. Hungry for Change is a campaign that actively raises awareness of all Eating Disorders, and aims to stamp out the stigma attached to the illness.
When talking about Eating Disorders, very often people assume that it is simply just Anorexia and Bulimia that they're talking about. However, there are many more Eating Disorders that go unnoticed. We want to change this and highlight to the public the Eating
Disorders that aren't spoken about enough. As well as this, we are adamant for the portrayal of Eating Disorders to change. They are not a 'faddy diet gone wrong', they are a mental illness.
Our aim is to actively raise awareness of all eating disorders. Many eating disorder have a lot of stigma attached to them, due to there being a lack of awareness about them. We aim to dispel the incorrect perceptions of eating disorders and to highlight that an eating disorder is a mental illness and at the end of the day, has little to do with food.
Short Term
Aims
To educate people about the reality of eating disorders and to take away the glamorisation that is often associated with eating disorders.
Medium Term Aims
For the public, the media, and those in the medical profession to recognise that all eating disorders are mental illnesses, they all impact the sufferers life negatively, and all need treatment.
Long Term Aims
To establish a non-profit organization within this campaign, to raise money in order to fund sufferer's treatment, who have been turned away from NHS due to not meeting their criteria and whom cannot afford private treatment.
